OTT Releases This Week: Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Mithya Season 2 and More  

As the offline world is busy preparing for festivities, the entertainment world has become a bit dull. We have just one major Indian original—Huma Qureshi’s Mithya: Dark Chapter (Season 2)—where we are met with sisterly rivalry.

On the international front, the spotlight is on Selena Gomez’s Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, in which we meet the wizards from the original popular Disney show Wizards of the Waverly Place, which ran from 2007 to 2013. A new wizard prodigy enters the picture, ready to be trained by the original wizards. The high-stakes political world of Netflix’s The Diplomat is now streaming. The series continues to navigate the challenging journey of a US diplomat who is now the new ambassador to the UK.

An interesting documentary, now available on Netflix, explores the controversial on- and off-screen life of American businesswoman and writer Martha Stewart.

Disney has decided to serve heartfelt nostalgia to the millennials with its beloved wizard show, which is making a comeback after more than a decade. The original Wizards of the Waverly Place followed three teenage wizards-in-training – Alex (Selena Gomez), Justin (David Henrie), and Max Russo.
In this spin-off version, Justin has been peacefully living a mortal life along with his wife and two sons for many years. However, when Alex (Selena Gomez) introduces him to Billie — a problematic, smart-mouth teenager-wizard-in-training — for mentorship, Alex can’t help but wonder what his life would be like if the magic returned. [Will we finally see him as a wizard after all these years?

Mithya: The Dark Chapter (Season 2)

The last time we were in the Mithya universe, we saw two sisters at each other’s throats. The premise remains the same this season; if anything, the enmity has doubled.
Juhi’s (Huma Qureshi) perfect little world is shaken when a mysterious writer called Amit (Naveen Kasturia) accuses her of plagiarism for her latest work. Meanwhile, her sister Rhea (Avantika Dassani) continues to plot schemes to win over her father’s love and defeat Juhi.
As morality takes a step back and the two women are consumed by range, limits cease to exist, and the two gradually begin to [metaphorically] turn into each other.

The Diplomat Season 2

Her tour of GUTS started earlier this year in February and will be concluding in 2025 in Manchester on July 1. In this Netflix special, Rodrigo takes the viewers to the extravagance from the Los Angeles leg of her tour, shot in Intuit Dome. From her power-packed performances to the fans screaming, crying, dancing, and singing their hearts out to songs from her latest albums, this docu-film offers it all.
